4th of July aboard the USS KIDD

As a veteran owned business, we are always looking for ways to support our military, both past and present. We are currently involved with the Louisiana Veterans Museum Foundation to support the preservation of the USS Kidd, a retired Fletcher class destroyer that sailed in both World War II and the Korean War. The historic vessel is the centerpiece of the USS Kidd Veterans Museum located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Manship family, owners of the local news channel WBRZ, and the USS Kidd have partnered together for 50 years to provide the city of Baton Rouge an incredible fireworks show on the 4th of July. However, due to COVID-19, the annual 4th of July celebration and fireworks display held at the USS Kidd Veterans Museum was canceled. In an effort to celebrate our nation’s heritage, the museum arranged for the United States Marines Reserve Band to play onboard the vessel, without an audience, and was recorded by WBRZ. Johnson Marine got the incredible opportunity to partner with WBRZ to provide drone footage for their broadcast which aired on July 4th. Our drone specialist, Hunter Svetanics, captured the footage on his Mavic 2 Zoom drone.

We hope you and your family have a blessed 4th of July.
